This series was born out of several road trips throughout the rural American west. While exploring this vast and open landscape I would often see these solitary and seemingly lonely buildings. Some of these places stand on their own, miles from their nearest neighbor. Some stand like sentinels just on the outskirts of a town. Some are abandoned and in disrepair, some closed for the season, some still operational. All, however, seemed to me as if they were just desperate to tell their stories, to be given some recognition and of what they once were and yearned to be again. Either waiting out the winter season in anticipation of next years crowds or symbols of a bygone era and hanging on to try to fulfill some lost potential.
